In connection with the pearl necklace robbery, Joseph Grizgard, Simon Silverman, and Leisir Gumwirth (Austrian diamond dealers), John Lockett (jeweller), and James M'Caithy (aged eightytwo years) wore charged at tho Bow Street Police Court and remanded for a week. A detective deposed that he and others watched tho prisoners on Monday at tho Museum Station, and arrested them on Tuesday. A stun of £230 in gold and Bank of England notes was found on M'Caithy. Tho latter declared his innocence, and said he had just sold two houses. Ho added that a Continental gentleman had given him French bank notes, which ho had changed for English. A search of Lockett had revealed £330 in bank notes, jewellery, and several pearls. Silverman had a quantity of French notos on him; also a pawn ticket for £80 for a bunch of pearls.
