Joseph Phillips, aged 64 years, second cashier in the Bank of England, charged with forging South American sharo transfers, has been sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment. After his disappearance until the time of his arrest Phillips lived at Boxmoor in a poverty-stricken condition.
