JUVENILE SHOOTING PARTY. ' GUN MISHANDLED (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Glsborne, September 1. Edgar Evans, aged 14, was shot dead by a companion named Harold Parker, aged 13, with whom and four others ho was out shooting yesterday. A telegram has been received by Police Superintendent Mitchell from the constable at Mangawai, 15 miles from Wellsford, as follows: —"Horace Colin Campbell, a farmer, single, and G-t years of ago, was found in tlio Mangawai River at one o'clock yesterday, with a saddlo between bis legs. Ho had evidently been thrown from his horse and drowned. Tlio liorso was seen close by with a broken bridle. KILLED WHILST LOGGING. Invercargill, September 1. A man named Walker, a. rccent arrival in the district, was killed this afternoon." It appears that ho was engaged in 'hauling logs with the aid of_ a traction engine at Donkin's Bush, adjacent to Otautau, when a log rolled on. him, crushing his head. Death was instantaneous.
