LAWN TENNIS.

BROUGHAM HILL CLUB. Tho report of the Brougham Hill Lawn Tennis Club, to be presented .at tho annual meeting next week, stales that tho membership for tho past season was maintained at full strength. In tho inter-club contests tho club entered eight teams and won four events and wero placed in each of tho others as follows, viz. .-—Men's competition: Senior, 2nd; junior, Ist; third class team A, Ist; third class team B, 2nd; fourth class, Ist. Ladiesi" competition—Senior, 3rd; junior, 2nd; third class, Ist. Tlio following are the results of tho various club competitions, viz.:—Men's championship singles, Mr. L. Girling Butcher; mon's championship doubles, Messrs. J. A. B. Howo and H. V. Howo; ladies' championship singles, Miss Davis; ladies' championship doubles, Misses Davis and Archer; com> bined championship doubles, Mrs. \V. E. Howe and Mr, H. V. Howe; men's handicap singles, Mr. E. Reeves; men's handicap doubles, Messrs. J. A. B. Howo and H. V. Howo; ladies' handicap singles. Miss Plimmer; ladies' handicap doubles, Misses Bowloy and Tingey; combined handicap doubles, Miss Tingoy and Mr. S. Y. Jones. Yankee tournaments —Mrs. J. A. B. Howo and Mr. JI. P. Instone, Mrs. J. A. B. Howo and Mr. H. C. S'imm, Miss Davis and Mr. P. Staple. Tho Wellington Public Schools' and Wellington Students' Association's tournaments and Canterbury v. Wellington wero held on tho club's courts. Tho club's electric light tournament tor the Eastor Carnival funds for beautifying tho citv resulted in handing over tho sum of £10 6s. Id. The tournament was won by Miss Thornton and Mr. Binning, and fancy drosses by Miss Erma G. M. Howo and Mr. L. Girling Butcher. Tho committeo tenders its thanks to Mr. W. N. Tucker for trophy.
