POLITICS & NO-LICENSE.
At a No-License meeting held on Thursday ovening in the Baptist Schoolroom, Vivian Street, a discussion took placo on the democratic vote campaign, and a speaker asked what attitude would be adopted by the Tcmperaiico body in tho event of candidates representing each of tho political parties being aspirants but both agreeing on the present licensing legislation. An appeal on the question was made to tho secretary of the New Zealand Alliance, who gave the following reply; "The last thing that the No-License Party wishes to do is to pit one party against another. AVo have studiously avoided it in the past, but the recent Dominion Convention provided for that contingency, when it' was decided that in such a case a candidate is to ho obtained to champion Temperance reform., Wo are determined to show our, teeth, but when tbo political candidate of today realises that our first line of defence is to bo brought into action, I do not think that any Solicitude on our part will bo necessary."
