POLICE CASE. "WHEN GREEK MEETS GREEK."' At tho Police Court yestordny, before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., Panagiolis Tyanakos was remauded till "Wednesday next on a ohargo of his having assaulted Gregory Karanzi, and caused him bodily harm. Bail (£4O) was allowed. Inspector Hendrcy stated to tho Court that Tyanakos' nose was broken and his jaw badly bruised. Ho added that both the men were Greeks. INDENTOR'S CLAIM. There was a light'civil list in tho Magistrate's Court yesterday. Frank Hodgson, indent agent, Wellington, claimed from John Moran (described as a dealer) a sum of £33 Os. 9d., as amount due for goods which the plaintiff, acting as defendant's agent, ordered for the defendant, who subsequently refused to take dejiverv. Moran's defence was that he"°had not employed Hodgson as his agent. Mr. A. Dunn appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. J. F. W. Dickson for the defendant. Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., reserved decision. DRIVER'S DISMISSAL. Julius Lamberg, a contractor, was fined £3 for a breach of tho drivers' award. It was alleged that lie dismissed S. Carpenter, a driver in his employment, without cause. Costs (£2) wore also entered' against the defendant. The case was taken before Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., and was not defended. ; THE DEBT LIST. OPERATIONS ON MAILS. Threo 'boys who were suspected' ol having' tampered with letters wer„ dealt with in the Juvenile Court yesterday morning, .by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M. One youth of 16 years was said to have found a mail kej", and, being aware that, a certain warehouse had lost the key to its-post office box, he had operated '.on their-': letter compartment and from their mail extracted two cheques—one for £15 and the other for £12 15s.' ' Neither of the cheques was negotiated. The boy and an acquaintance who aided him, were ionvieted and. ordered to appear for -sentence when called. on. Another lad was similarly dealt with for having on a number of occasions taken letters belonging to his employers. From these letters he extracted a cheque, postal notes, and stamps, totalling £2'os. 3d. in value, and tnis' amount his father was ordered to make good.
