MATCH AT LEVIN.

MEN DEFEATED. , .. Levin, August 27. The Horowhenua Itugby representatives defeated the Wellington' Wednesday ' representatives after an open contest by 13 to 11. Tho first spell ended with the latter 10 to 3, and the score was made' 13 to 3 a quarter of an hour after the Becond spell began,, but Wellington finished gamely, and scored twice more, the last score being gained on the call of time. Tries for Horowhenua were secured by Jacob, T. Winiata, and Rawiri, two of the tries being converted; and for Wellington by Bate, Anderson, and Barber, one being converted. INTER-COLLEGE MATCHES. The annual series of secondary school , Inatches will be commenced to-day on . the Wellington Collego ground. Tho Wanganui College team arrived yesterday, and will meet the Wellington College team .to-day at 2.45 p.m. The Christ's College (Christchurch) - -team will arrive this morning, and will play the second match of tho series against Wanganui Collego on Saturday. Tho third and final match, between Wellington College and Christ's Collego, will bo played on Monday. A programme of amusements for tho visitors has been arranged. This evening 'there will bo a theatre party at His Majesty's Theatre,; to-morrow morning the teams will be taken over the city • by tramcar; on Saturday night the teams will bo entertained at dinner by Mr. J. P. Firth, headmaster of Wellington Collego; and on Monday they will bo driven round tho city. Ail games will be played on tho Collego y ground., and will start at 2.45 p.m. WELLINCTON-AUCKLAND MATCH For the match with Auckland, the Wellington team is being trained by Mr. T. W. Leslie. Their 'gallop" last Saturday did them good, and they are expected to bo very fit by the end of the week. It is more than likely that Ramsden will play.
