CLAIM ON SHIPPING CO. (By Tdcsrapli-Prcfia Association.) Cisborno, August 27. A missing hat-box, said by tho stewards of tho Victoria to bo tho largest they had over seen, formed tho subject of a claim for £30 bv Mrs. Lionel Clare against tihe HuddartParker Company, heard in tho Magistrate's Court. Mr. Barton, S.M., held 'that tho loss had been occasioned by the negligence of defendant company in not placing tho luggage aboard tender at Gisbomo. Plaintiff did not sign any contract, and was not aware of Clause 18 of the terms endorsed on tho passage tioket; consequently she. was not bound thereby. Plaintiff was thereforo, entitled to recover tho actual value of tho trunk and contents. Judgment was given for £26, with costs.
