MUNICIPAL PICTURES.

<By Telc-jTraph.- Spccial Correspondent.) Palmorston, August 26. Tho Chief Justice reserved decision today ill an interesting case, involving tho Foxton Borough Council's right to carry on a moving picture business. Tho plaintiff was Marie Hamer, who sought an injunction restraining the council from carrying on such a business, on tho ground that sho was interested, with her husband, in moving pictures, which the council's opposition injured, and that, to use corporation funds for that purpose, was illegal. She quoted tho following as a tag on tho council's last balance-sheet: "Examined and found correct, except that the running of picture shows and a Skating Rink by tho borough is without authority of law." In the statement of defence it was alleged that the municipal pictures produco profit, and wero introduced in 1911, whereas plaintiff's husband only commenced recently. Law points were fully argued, and decision reserved.
