OTAGO RAILWAY WASH-OUTS.
CLEARING THE LINES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.). Dunedin, August 26.' The first express for Christchurch this morning was cancelled, as also was tho 8.16 a.m. slow train to Oainaru. Tho second express for tho north was dispatched about noon, passengers transferring across , the slip at Puketeraki to a relief train. Passengers- by the first express from the north were also obliged to transfer, at this point, and tlio train did not reach Dunedin till 5.30,' an hour and a half late. By 6 p.m., however, the ,slip had been cleared,' and the ,second' express from the north was able to pass right through reaching Dunedin at 9.55, only, half an hour late.
On the main line south of Dunedin, the first express was delayed at Mosgiel for two hours owing to tho presence of water on the line at O.tokaia. Tho up-express from Invercargill jtvas similarly delayed, arriving in Dunedin at 11.40 a.m., 40 minutes late. The water was cleared off the. line as tho day advanced, ' and there were no further delays except in the case of the second express for the south, which could not .leave till the arrival at Dunedin of the first express from Christchurch. / The Lawrence branch was clear today, but thefe was no traffic- on the Outram or Ot-ago Central lines-. Tomorrow trains will run on-the north, and south lines as usual, and also on the Outram line in tho afternoon.
