RETIRING PASTOR.

REV. W. DOUGLAS, KILBIRNIE. Tho annual meeting of the Kilbimio Presbyterian Church was held oil Friday evening, the Rev. James Paterson presiding. As tho pastor (Rev. W. Douglas, M.A.) is retiring from tho ac-, tivo ministry after 40 years of work/ tho mooting was largely one of a farewell nature. The annual report expressed regret at the deaths of Mr. T. M'Gregor (session clerk), Mr. Isbister (Roscneath), and Mrs. M'Lennan (Kilbirnio), and at tho resignation through ill-health of Mr. Morris from the senior eldership. Great appreciation of tho work of tho Rev. Mr. Douglas was also expressed. Mr. Douglas was presented with a purse of sovereigns by Mr. John Smith, Benior elder in charge, on behalf of tho congregation. Mr. Smith also made a presentation to the Misses Douglas. In handing ovor tho gifts, Mr. Smith made feeling references to Mr. Douglas's work. Other speakers were Revs. J. Paterson, W. J. Comrie, W. Shirer, and J. Carr, and Mr. J. G. W. Aitkcn.
