The fight over the wool schedule of the Tariff Bill has begun in the Senate, the Republicans strongly objecting to the reductions; Two Senators spoke' for six hours, characterising the schedule as a political tariff instead of being, as the Democrats claimed, for revenue purposes only. Senators Boies and R. M. La Folletto proposed alterations, but the Democrats refused to discuss them. Senator -Penrose claimed that the Bill unduly favoured Britain. Actually to Britishers the measure seemed too good to be true.
