HISTORICAL PAGEANT.
On October 25 and 27 ne/t, the Historical Pageant, to be given in aid of the new Building and Endowment Fund of the Wellington Boys' Institute, will take place iu ■ Newtown Park. Nearly all the 30 historical groups! in the English section have been taken up, some of the newlyformed ones being: The introduction of Christianity, Bruce at Bannockburn, Caxtou printing and presenting the "Game of Plays of Chesse" to Edward VI, the translation'of the. Bible, Cabot: explaining his discovery of North America ,to Henry VII, Charles II presenting the Hudson Bay Company with their Charter, Florence Nightingale and her work amongst soldiers. j In the New Zealand historical section, the following episodes have been arranged Captain Oook' meeting the' Maoris, Treaty of Waitangi, the Settlement of Port Nicholson.
The Costume Committee and Historians are kept hard at work supplying information on characters and dresses to the various group organisers. The following bands have oonsented to assist:—Wellington City Band, Petone Municipal Band, Central Mission Pipe, Tramways, . and Waterside Workers' Bands.
All entries for the Poster Competition in connection wi'th the pageant close on Saturday, September 13, at the pageant ofiie.e, Bethune's Buildings, where full information may be obtained. • A meeting of the group organisers and their assistants will take place in the Mayor's room in. the Town Hall on Tuesday evening next.
