A convicted person who had been undergoing a sentence of fouT years' penal servitude for defrauding farmers, applied to the Guildhall for a sum of .£9l, which he possessed When arrested. This money, he explained, should have been given to a woman who ihad been convicted, but had been bound over at the same time. The aldermaji said that he wis morally certain' that the money represented, the proceeds of frauds. Numerous claims had been made. # Ho refused the application, suggesting that the convict should be adjudged bankTupt, whereupon. tho money would be properly divided.
The caso has been adjourned "for. six months. '
