At tho annual meeting of tho Manwwatu Racing Club, held on Monday night it was decided to spend JC2500 on improvements <0 tho Awapuni racecourse. Mr. .J. H. Strang, the president, said a year's trial ol' tho stipendiary stewards had proved very satisfactory. Tho year_'s iiunnco /showed a profit of .£ll7B after paying out X3OOO as depreciation. TJio stakes for next Christinas meeting would bo increased by .£-180. Tho following officers 'were elected Patron, Mr. D. liuick; president, Mr. J. H. Strang; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. R. Cooper and J. G. Johnston; treasurer, Mr. C. Louisson; comuiittee, Messrs. L. Abraliam, S. It. Lancaster, F. S. M'Rae, and P. J. Nathan. Dr. O'Brien has sold his practice to his partner, Dr. S. W. Rorke, and intends to return 'to Australia in October.
