MURDER MYSTERY AT BOTANY. By Telczraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney,' August 19. / The body of a man, supposed to bo Thomas George Mawer, was found in the sorub at Botany, shot through the back. The affair is surrounded by mystery. (Rec. August 19, 8.5" p.m.) The body has been positively identified as that of Charles John Stratton, a wharf-labourer, 33 years of age, who left his home at Chippendale on Sunday afternoon, saying that lie was going 'to Yarra Bay to play two-up. It is not known how much money ho had when he left, but only Is. id., was found on the body. The police aro disinclined to believe that he was murdered. They say that tho scrub is frequented by parties in search of small game, and that possibly Stratton was shot by a stray bullet. 'A black tracker,found ,tracks leading to a spot where a couple had been sitting, eating oranges, and also a man's track from tho spot wliere Stratton's body was 'found to tho spot where the empty cartridge'lay. . . It is stated that Stratton lmd been frequently seen in that locality by night:
