'The celebrated trial, in 1910, of the notorious, Countess Ttirnowski, at Venice, for the murder of Count Kamarowski, has had a tragic sequel. The Countess, who was released on , health grounds, after serving a small portion of the sentence of eight years' imprisonment, has teen found strangled in a railway carriage between St. Petersburg and Kieff. NOT THE COUNTESS. (Roc. .August 19, 11.5 p.m.) St. Petersburg, August 19. The strangled woman has been identified as 'the Countess Tarnowsbi'a cousin. N«ws from Italy states that the Countess is still in prison.
The oase in which the Countess was concerned was one of the most sensational ever heard v in Italy. The accused were the Countess, a lawyer named Prilukoff, Dr. Nicola Naumoff, and Elisa Perier, a maid. Naumoff was accused of having, on September 4, 1907, killed Count Paul Kamarowski, the Countess and the lawyer were charged with having instigated the crime, and Perier with complicity. Count ICamaiowski was assassinated in Venice after the Countess had agreod to marry him. and had induced lnm to make his will and insure his life in her favour. The policy was for -£20,000. 'In>. signing .it Count Kamarowski signed his death warrant. The Countess was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment, Prilukoff to ten years, and Naumoff to three year 9. • The Countess, whole health failed, was released after serving only a small portion of her sentence.
