The "Tribune" states that in high quarters the conviction is entertained that British recognition of the Huerta Government was dme to commercial influence. It is asserted that extensive Mexican oil concessions were granted, contingent ■ on Britain's recognition, ' and that Lord Cowdray exercised influence on the Foreign Office, but it is (not ?) suggested that Sir Edward Grey (Foreign Secretary) personally .was improperly influenced. INDECISIVE BATTLE. Washington, August 17. The State Department has been informed that several thousand Federal troops and Mexican, rebels fought a two days' engagement at Rodriguez, Sonora S£ate, the result being indecisive. Both 6idcs lost heavily in killed and wounded.
