The Alabama Legislature has appointed Mr. Henry Clayton, a Senator, thus bringing the democratic ranks up to their former majority, i A fight, is likely to take place on the flcor of the Senate before Mr. Clayton takes his seat.
The Republicans claim thai the appcintment is irregular.
• The Senate is debating thp Tariff Bill daily, and making slow progress. It is predicted that the Bill will not be passed until -November.
