LONDON PERSONALS,

London, July 10. The Misses Adelaide and M. Van Staveren, who have been living in Itaily for some time, arrived in London last week, and are staying at West Hampstead. Miss Helen Mackenzie, eldest daughter of tho Hon, Thomas Mackenzie, has, unfortunately, contracted scarlet lever, and has* had a very severe attack.; She is ncw v however, approaching the convalescent stage. In consequence cf this illness, Mra. Mackenzie and her daughters have had to cancel all engagements. Dr. and Mrs. Herbert, of Wellington, have arrived in London after six weeks' trip through Canada and tho United States. Dr. Herbert will represent tho New Zealand Medical Association at the British Medical Association meeting at Brighton, and in August will attend the international medical meeting in London. Mr. Kc--.50 Trevor, of Auckland, is again in London. . -

Dr. and Mrs. F. Truby King, of Otago, are at present in England. They axe stay-' ing at Beckenham. Mr. Frank Goldberg, of Wellington, is ot present touring on the Continent. He returns to New Zealand via America, in December.

Mr. and Mrs. George ICay, of Te Awa/mutu, have been in England and Ireland for some months.

Mr. and Mrs. Price, of Ohristchurch, arrived via Canada', and ore now in London. Later on they hope to go to Italy, Germany, France, Norway, ana Denmark, returning to New Zealand at tho end of tho year. Mrs. T. Bassett, of Christchurch, who is. accompanied by lior daughter, has arrived in England, and intends to spend the next two years in touring the United Kingdom and the Continent, making Ireland licr headquarters. \ Mr. T. B. Simmons, of Geraldine, left for Ireland last week, and later will travel on the Continent. Before leaving Eng-. land ho will travel in the provinces with Mr. Walter, of Christchurch, and leave for New Zenland on September 12. Mr. >A. W. Wyatt, of New Brighton, has been visiting various watering places since he arrived last month, and later goes to Paris, Belgium, Antwerp, Berlin, then Scotland, Ireland, and the midlands before returning to New Zealand in October. „ . . , Mr. W. J. Walter, J.P., of Christchurch, who is now in Ireland, will visit Scotland and the Continent. He will also travel m England, in ordor to go into farming matters, and will leave for home at the eiiS of September, via Anicnca and Canada. Mr. and Mrs. T. J.' Thompson, of Hawke's Bay, stayed at Mont© Video and Buenos Ayres en route for England. Tliey aro at present in Ireland with'Mr; Thompson's mother, and later intend touring there., They leave England by the Eiuahine oil October 23. Mr. Charles C. Reade has been invited by Professor Patrick Geddes to read a paper on "Town-planningin Australasia,' before the International Housing Confess at Ghent in July. . Mr. J. C. Pelhain, of Auckland, is paying a visit to London after forty-nine years in New Zealand. He lias been staying- in Kent since his arrival, and on tho 26th sails by the Philadelphia' for tho States and Canada, for San Francisco, which-lie leaves on August 20 for rsow Zealand. , , , , Tho. King and tho Prince of Wales have each accepted a copy of Mr. T. E. Sedgwick's pamphlet, an epitome of tho present position of the town lads on Imperial farms movement. Mr. Sedgwiok leaves for Australia and New Zealand on July 29.

Mr. J. Scandrett, ex-Mayor of Invereargill, who is accompanied by. Mrs. and Miss Smndrett, will ba in London till the end of this month, and will lea.ve for Scotland in August. They will visit Holland and other places on the Continent m September,' and will stay at Bromley, where Mrs. Scandrett was born, in October. They leave for New Zealand in DeIcember. ■ Dr. Fred. G. Gibson, medical practitioner, of Christchuroh, has arrived in London, on a twelve months' visit._ Dr. Gibson will spend tho greater portion of 'his time, in studying the methods in tho big London and Continental hospitals. Mr. J. A. Inkster, of tho Wangamui "Chronicle," and his sisiter, Miss A. Inkster, M.A., B.Sc., have bsen in London for the past three months, and will visit the Ccmtinent, Scotland, and Ireland. They return to New Zealand in September, first attending the world's Sunday School Conference at Zurich, as delegates of tthe Presbyterian Church in New Zealand. Captain Seddon was a passenger by the Campania on Saturday for New York, en route for New Zealand. Major John Whitney, of Auckland, has come to England to place his erandson at the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich. Ho is at present staying at East Melbury, m Shaftesbury.
