HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.

St. Augustine's Hall was crowded last night, tho occasion ' being a combined social of tho St. Augustine's Ladies' and Men's Hockey Clubs. About 150 attended. Messrs. 'Martin and Foster officiated as M.C.'s, and Mr. L. Simpson supplied tho musio. Tho Misses Sherwin, Brookes and Hill played extras. The hall was beautifully decora-ted with ferns; foliage, and hockey sticks, and a capital evening was spent. Yostorday. afternoon Mr. R. Ilickling, of Pctone, placed a sum of money in tlio till at his shop, and, leaving the premises for about five minutes, ho returned to discover that someone had walked off with the money, evidently having been waiting an opportunity. _ A bazaar will be hold in the Lyceum Hall, Lower Hiitt, on October 2 nnd 3, in aid of tho organ fund of St. James's (Anglican) Church. Great efforts are being made by members of tho congregation"aud friends to make tho bazaar a success; and it is anticipated that good business will be done during tho two davs that the bazaar is open, and that sufficient funds will be raised to make up the balance required. Further particulars will be found in an advertisement in a later issue.
