-b CASES DIMINISHING. 'Reports on tlio' cpidcmic seem f5 indicate that cases are growing fewer. The official bulletin issued last evening states as follows:— . , The District Health Officer, A'uckland (Dr. Monk) reports:—No fresh cases have been retried in Auckland or suburbs since .yesterday's roport. A suspicious case is reported at lvopanga. Two cases, ,previously reported as chicken-pox, at Otaua, are now notified as smalljiox. Both aro Maoris, The accounts of the epidemic in the Waikuto district arc reassuring. LULL IN CASES. MINISTER ASKED TO GO NOHTII. (By Telegraph—Frees Association.) Auckland, August 12. No cases, of epidemic wore reported either from the city or the suburbs' today. Of the 69 patients six are to ba/distharged. These comprise five Maoris and one European. .More satisfactory reports were received from Kaikohe and also from the Waikato districts. One fresh case at ICopanga (near Tuakau) was notified, and information was rUo received that' two cases previously reported as chickenpox at Otaua (near \\ niuku) luul proved to be the prevailing disease. A telegram has been sent to tiro Minister for Public Health by the Mayor (Mr. Parr) conveying recommendations for combating the epidemic, and he has also written to tho Minister. Ho suggests t'hat the Minister should visit Auckland and spend a few days in the city in order to make observation of the present position. _... : One case of chicken-pox at Parapariumu, and one case of scarlet fever at AVaikanae, were notiliod to the Hutt County Council b.v tho Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, at its meeting yesterday. A wireless message from Port Moresby states that Judge Murray, tho .Lieu-tenant-Governor of Papua, who was vaccinated in Sydney o.n July 9 last, and' later found to be suffering from eow)>ox, has been rolea.=ed from the infectious, ward. No further cases of infectious disease have been reported from- Port Moresby. SEVEN MORE CASES. , (Rec. August 12, 0.35 a.m.) Sydney, August 12. Seven cases of smallpox were reported to-day.
