MASTERTON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondents.) Ten persons are at present: in receipt of charitable aid from the charitable institution in Mastorton. There have been practically no demands for-vaccination in the Mosterton Borough during the past week, and the vaccination officers have discontinued their attendance aj the Hospital Board offices. The Minister l'or Justice has informed tho Akitio County Council that .if possible arrangements will be made for the holding of sittings of the Court at Pongaroa by a stipendiary magistrate. A bullet was discharged from a rilte by some careless individual in Maslerton on Monday. It passed through -tho wall of a motor garage, and whizzed past the heads of SDino men who were at work. The Miisterton .Racing Club's spring meeting is to be held on October 10. At a meeting of tho Programme Committee on Saturday last, it was decided to increaso tho'ftnlces at this meeting hy 50 per cent. The stake for the principal event will be XITS. The monthly meeting of the Wa.irarapa Hospital and "Charitable Aid Committee, Mr. W. Fisher presiding, accounts amounting to .t(S39 16?. 2d. we parsed for payment. A letter was read from Dr. \ aiintine suggesting that n uniform patient s lee 'of i:i •'*. per week lie charged. Iho committee did not consider it desirable to depart from Hie existing arrangement, under which a sliding scale is provided. There are at present nine inmates ot llw Solwav Home at Mastrfton. Arrangements have just, been made tor the admission ot three. further old men.
