Advice received in Wellington yesterday states that Mr. Robert Noble, a Now Zealiind actor, who lias been in England for the past seven years, lias entered into a 'long ongagoment with Mr. F. I?. Benson, the well-known Shakespearean actormannger. In terms cf this engagement, tlis New Zealander will play lead in (ho touring company, and his parts will include jlamlet, Othello, Sli.vlock ("Merchant of Venice"), Jacques ("As You I.iko It"), and Petruohio ("Darning of the Shrew"). Ho opens at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, Stratford-on-Avon, on Monday next. Mr. Noble, who is a son of Mr. R. T. Noble-Beasley, of this city,, was born in Dunedin in 1882, ami educated at tlio Marist Bros.' School and the Wangamii Collegiate School. After qualifying as a chemist in 1902, lie Left for Sydney, and soon forsook pharmacy for the' stage.
