"At Home" at Blairlogie, Masterton. A most onjoyablo "at home" and knickknack afternoon was held at Blairlogie last week, in honour of the approaching manriage of Miss Sutton and Mr. Hands, vicar of the Tinui parish. The organisers were Mis.. and Miss .Morrison, Mrs. Hugh Morrison, and Miss K. Cameron. Tile decorations were charming, and consisted of spring bulbs, violets, and primroses, while largo bowls of wattle were arranged evorywliero. On tho tea table were yellow narcissi, surrounded, by silver slippers and horseshoes. Many people from the surrounding district wero present, and cach one brought a useful gift for the prospective bride and Competitions and music were lca'tumaa of the alternoun. Mesdames J. and G. Groves, Mrs. J. Ta-tham,-Miss Hunt, and Mrs. H. Morrison contributed enjoyable musical items, while Miss Austin recited "Lasca." Those who gained prizes for the competitions wero Miss Strong, Mra. Turner, Mrs. L. Meredith, and Miss Street. Boys' Institute Pageant. In connection with tho. forthcoming pageant in aid of the Boys' Institute there 13 to be arranged what should prove a most interesting comjrctition in doll dressing in national costumes. Some 17 handsomo trophies have teen donated by leading citizens. Thero aro to bo three sec-tions-ffirst, for children attending public schools; second, children attending secondary schools; and third, fortadults. The competition will bo open to all who like to compote, freo. Tho doll need not necessarily beooino the property of tho, Pageant Committee, but should any person desire to give tho doll it .will be sold as a dona-, tion to tho pageant funds. It is hopfd tho idoa will be takon up with enthusiasm and that sohool teachers especially will try to get as many scholars as possiblo to compete. Girls' College Entertainment. • A very enjoyable social evening was held by a .committee of members of the Wellington College Old, Girls' Association for younger members, and some of tho present students of the college, on Saturday evening. Quito a number of tho girls appeared in fancy dress, and dancing was their chief entertainment. A brief programme of music and recitations was Contributed to by Mrs. AYaterliouse, Miss E. Mrs. Chilman is visiting Auckland, and Miss Doris Chilman is staying in ChristchuTcli.
