SPORTS' PROTECTION LEAGUE.
BOARD OP CONTROL. A special meeting of the board wa.i hold in the League's offices last evening. Sir Geo. Clifford (president) occupied the ohair, and there were present: The Hon. Dr. Collins, Messrs. J. H. B. Ccates, C. P. Skerrott, K.C., C. H. Tringham, and lan G. Duncan. The general secretary, Mr. A. A. Paape, tendered his rosignatiou in order to take up the duties of organiser of the Reform party, and expressed the desire to be relieved of his duties as from October 1 next. Mr. Paapa said he was deeply conscious of the kindly consideration bestowed upon him since the inception ,of the organisation. After consideration the following resolution, proposed by the chairman, was carried unanimously: "That the Board of Control of the New Zealand Sports Protection League accepts with regret Mr. Paape's resignation of the ofiico of secretary and places on record its appreciation of the success and energy with which Mr. Paape has .fulfilled his duties." Mr. Paape, in acknowledging the resolution, made feeling reference to the kindness and consideration ■at all times extended by tho members of the board, and of the of the branches throughout the Dominion. At all times he would do his utmost to assist his successor in office. It was decided to invite applications in the press in the principal centres throughout the Dominion, the said applications to close on September 1 next. The board then proceeded to draw up a list of duties', copies of which are to bo forwarded to intending applicants. After the transaction of routine business the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to tho chair.
