Parr, Mayor of Auckland, who has been to Sydney on holiday, was a passenger to Wellington by the Mnungamii yesterday. Mr. Alexander Lucas, a member of the Provincial' Parliament of British Columbia, and a member of tha Royal Commission on Agriculture, for that St/ite, is at present in Wellington. His mission to Now Zealand has to do with tho inquiry in which he and seven other commissioners are ongaged. In Mew Zealand ho will endeavour to discover the effoct pi our advanced lopislation» &iid cspccifllly the working of tho Advances to Settlers Office. Tho other commissioners aro making inquiries along rather different lir.es in other parts of tho world. Mr. Lucas will spend four Weeks ill New Zealand, after which he is to go to Australia. Jlr. G'. J. Parr, Mayor of Auckland, actompanied by Mrs. Parr, arrived in Wellington by tho Sydney boat yesterday, after a holiday spent in New South WuUs. .Mr. 11. G. WilsDn, town clerk of Auckland, is also in Wellington at the present time. Mr. I 1). C. Adams, passenger clcrk at tlip Union Company's local office, who has been on holiday leave to Tasmania, Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mr. James Amir.-, City Valuer,-who lias been granted six months' loavo of absence, is milking the trip from Auckland to Sydney, via tine lsla.nus, by the Tolua. He intends to go on to South Australia before returning to New Zealand. Miss M. Williamson, Ltd.) arrived in Wellington by the Maunganui from Sydney yesterday to make final arrangements for tho Julius Knight tour, the Wellington season of which is to commence at tho Opera HouS6 on Thuisday, August 2U
