THE SITE FOR AN AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.

• Sir,—A9 a Board'of -Agriculture is about to be formed, it'is to bo hoped a suitable position to establish an agricultural college will be considered by them as a. matter deserving of their earliest and most careful considerationi; i.-.Tbere.; are. many districts in -tho -North Island open to lay claim to it, consequently tho most suitable and central districts should bo reduced to two or three, after, tho merits and demerits of all districts have teen fully and openly discussed, and if necessary inspected. The members representing these particular districts should be required to abstain from voting, and So leave it to tlie other members to decide. I consider that districts. that, have Government experimental farms .near them should not be considered as much as those districts that aio not so favoured, provided, of course, that the position is a good and central one. Some districts ha™ been richly endowed by past Governments, but others have not, so that the-less favoured districts sliould have the-rxreference, other conditions beins equal.
