CADDER MINE DISASTER.
HEART-RENDING SCENES. By Toleuraph—Prose Association—CopyTiclit London, August 4. Thrco men were saved from the Cadder mine through Reilly, a fireman, descending directly the alarm was given. Reilly afterwards seized a lamp and .ran through the workings to warn tho rest. He was not seen again., Twenty-one bodies have been recovered. Ono man was taken out alive, but is not likely to survive. (Rec. August 5, 8.50 p.m.) Fifteen bodios have been found together in Cadder mine. They were net burnt, bu.t had dicxl of the effects of afterdamp. Mac Donald, tho last man, reached, was found alive, after having teen below nineteen hours. A doctor administered oxygen while ho was being carried out. Ho is in a critical condition. Ono woman lost throe sons, and another two sons and a son-in-law. Thirteen of the victims were married. (Sydney "Sun" Special—Aug. 5, 6.45 p.m.) Heartrending scenes have been witnessed at the pit-head, and tho poisonous fumes arising from tho mine o-end€Tpd rescue work difficult, tho rescuers becoming unconscious. All tho pit ponies wore suffocated. Tho fusing of an electrio cable is tho probable cause of tho disaster. Four hundred men aro idle.
