INTERSTATE COMMISSION.
THREE MEMBERS APPOINTED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. August 0, 0.40 a.m.) Melbourne, August 5. The following is the personnel of the Inter-State Commission:—Mr. A. B. I'iddington, Iv.C., of Now Soutli Wales, chairman ; Mr. Gcorgo Swinburne, member of the Legislative Assembly of Victoria; and Mr. N. C. Lockyer, Comptroller-General of Customs, members.
The Intov-Steto Commission Bill provides for the appointment of three commissioner.* to investigate from time to timo anything requiring inquiry in tho public interest, such as foreign markets, the prce of commodities, unemployment, immigration, and the control of rivers. The chief commissioner receives ,£2500 pre - annum, and the othur two ,£IOOO each and travelling expenses. Tho appointments are for tliTee years.
