MUNICIPAL STAFF'S PAY.
CHANGES IMMINENT. The question of increases of salaries in all departments of the City Council, which lias been hanging fire for a long limp, lias now received serious consideration, both by the Tramways Cominilteo and tho Finance Committee. A schedule of proposed increases has been carefully gone into, and'will be submitted to tho council at tho ordinary meeting to-mor-row night. - It is understood that .a. classification scheme for members of the council stall will be adopted at an early date. AY Ink this is now being prepared, many councillors are of opinion Mint tho office stall's, of whom many members are overdue for rises, should not be any longer deprived of legitimate increases in their .salaries. Superior officers have not been considered in this initial review of tho staff; thej will wait till the classification scbclno il in active operation.
