1 rosecutions for exposing lice-infected Sheep for public auction are becoming far nioro numerous than 'was formerly the case. Tliis 19 accounted for by tho fact that' the conditions of tho Act governing the health of stock are being more rigorously enforced than formerly. Every' week many thousands of sheep from all parts find a common meeting place at Feuding saleyards. This nffords the local stock inspector a good opportunity for detecting negligent owners, many of ivhom have been brought to book during the past few months. Offenders coming before tho Court have for a lono timo teen let off with a.fineof iil pnd costs, but lost'week the presiding magistrate plainly intimated that a heavier penalty is necessary to bring, about tho desired result, and imposed a fine,of i£s, with costs, in three cases that ,were brought before him.
