PANAMA EXPOSITION.
ANTI-BRITISH FEELING. By TelflEraDh-Prefo Assoolatlon-OouyricW (Ecc. August 3, 6.15 p.m.) London, August 2. The London "Times," commenting on the recent anti-British outbursts in Borne of the American' papers, says that it is explained in London that Britain's refusal to participate in the Pannma Exposition! is due to-the Board of Trade failing to induce sufficient manufacturers to incur the expense of preparing for tho exhibition. ' Current opinion is that there are too many world's fairs. Britain's refusal has nothing to do with the Canal tolls. Germany has also declined to bo represented, not satisfied that America's guarantees respecting the protection trade seicrots will hold good. The "Daily Telegraph" states out of 22 countries only two of the great nations, I'r&nce and. Japan, so faT have accepted. It is stated in "Washington that Mr. Bryan (Secretary of State) is trying to induce London and Berlin to reconsider their decision. Several of the English papers point out that British exhibitors have refused, and stated that their objection was based' purely on commercial grounds.
