THE CHEMIST'S OPIUM.
INSUFFICIENT RECORD KEPT. (By Telegraph—Frees Association.) Auckland, August 1. Alfred Robert AVclha.ni, chemist, of Groy Lynn, pleaded guilty to-day to nine charges of having purchased opium without recording the purchases and manner in which the drug was disposed of as required by the law. Defendant explained that some of his papers were destroyed by fire, and also that some of the drug liad been used in the manufacture of proprietary medicines. A fine of >£1 on each charge was imposed.
