COMPULSORY MILITARY TRAINING.
LORD ISLINGTON ON NEW ZEALAND SYSTEM. By Telegraph—Preta Association—Oopyrislit (Roc. July 31, 10.50 p.m.) London, July ,11. Lord Islington, in a speech ot Chippenham, dealing with the question of compulsory military training, said that the obligation with respect to universal training had; been undertaken in New Zealand by general consent. Speaking from an intimate observation of the New Zealand cadet system and its effect upon the national character in the most democratic of the overseas Dominions, he had not the slightest doubt that if a universal system of school cadets wore carried out in England it would Inter supply the deficiency in the establishment of the British Territorial Army.
