Wedding at Vancouver. A pretty wedding was 'solemnised at St. Saviour's Church, Vancouver, 8.C., on July 5, between Miss G. C. Ji'Loan, eldest daughter of Mr. "William M'Lean, of this city, and Mr. liobert Whittem, formerly ot' Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, but now of Vancouver. B.C. The bride,- who wore a champagne silk frock and largo black-plumed hat, was attended Mi-« G. C. Stack, of Wellington, who travelled o/i er with her. She was given away by foptain Jl'Morran, of "Grand View," Vancouver, who afterwards, with Mrs. M'Morran, entertained the bridal party at "Grand View." The honeymoon is being spent at Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. Death of a Pioneer. The death took place at her home, Tauiherinikau, on Wednesday morning, of Mrs. Emma Wilkinson, wife of Mr. A. M. Wilkinson, a pioneer Tnuherinikau settler, and well known throughout the Wairarapa. Tho late Mrs. AVilkinson came to New Zealand from Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, with her husband in 1873. They left England in the Ilelen Denny on August 7 of the year mentioned, and after a voyage of 105 days' duration, Landed at Wellington shortly afterwards. For ten years Mrs. Wilkinson conducted tho Tauhorinikau Hotel. She had always been noted for hor hospitality, being at all times ready to lend a helping hand to those in need of assistance. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 74, and she is survived by two sonsMessrs. Frank Wilkinson (Palmerston North), and Fred. Wilkinson (Taiiiheris. nikau),- and a daughter (Mrs. C. Lyford), as well as her 'husband.

Recent news received, of Miss Eene Quoreo from London stated that she had signed a contract for a six months' conoert tour of the English provinces, under tlie_ management of llr. Hugo Gorlitz, and would be: fissociated with Madamo Melba. Before the engagement commenced, Miss Queree, with her uncle, Sir. T. Queree, intended travelling on the Continent, their itinerary including Bavaria and otlier countries.
An English correspondent, writing on Juno 25, stated that Hiss Holen Mackenzie, eldest daughter of the High Commissioner for Now Zealand, had caught scarle.t fever, : fortunately not in a serious form. It meant, however, that all, or most of, the social engagements of Mrs. Mackenzie and her daughters would have to bo cancallcd for a time.
From tho south conies news of the engagement 'of Miss Georgina Bauchop, Port Chalmers, to Mr. I'. J. 1;. Earl, of Havelock North, Hawke's Bay; also of Mies Maude Sandilands, second daughter of Mr. ft. Sandilands, Qneen's Drive, Musselburgh, to Mr. J. Bain, of Christchurch. Mrs. Donniston left Wellington for the south on Wednesday, Miss Vallanoe and Miss Bennett (Otahutuj, Masterton) are visiting Wellington. Mrs. Knight (England), who has been spending somo time in Wellington, leaves next week for New Plymouth, and later 'for Auckland and ltotorua. Mts. H. B. Williamson left Hawera on Monday en route for America and England. Mrs. Williamson travels with Mrs. and tlie Misses Duncan, of Wangnnui.
