John Norton, of "Truth," is suing David Herald, solicitor, £or -C3OOO damages for alleged negligence in the condnct of tho defence in tlio action brought by Archbishop Clarke, of Melbourne, against Norton, for alleged libel in 'connection with tho Nash case. Plaintiff's counsel stated that Mr. Norton was not pressing for damages, but merely wanted to vindicate his character. Norton complained that Herald had not informed liim that Canon Nash had refused to give certain evidence which tho defence relied c\n. If Norton had known of this ho would have effected a settlement of the caso earlier than he did. The hearing was adjourned. Archbishop Clarke, in the ease under mention, received .£IOOO damages. He claimed .£SOOO.
