-s MAN AND BOT KILLED NEAR THE BEACH. A man and a lx>.v wero struck by lightning and instantly killed on Juno 18, dur•fe a fierce thunderstorm at South Shields. Another boy was found lying near unconscious. Tho man's clothes were torn off at his left side, his boots woro burnt off, and'his face was scorched. Alarmed by the thunderstorm at Sun-dei-Uind tho samo night, Mrs. T. Ritson, of Lew Fell, Durham, was hurrying to catch a tramway-car when sho collapscd■and died.
