TYPOGRAPHICAL UNION.

HALF-YEARLY MEETING. The fiftieth half-yearly meeting of the Wellington Typographical Union was largely attended, the preeidont (Mr. James Harper) occupying the chair. The question, of establishing a typographical journal, which had been recommended by tho executive of the New Zealand Federated Typographical Association, was discussed. It was decided to issue a ballot paper to members, with a view to ascertaining what support such a venture would receive. 'l'he half-yearly report and balance-sheet were adopted. The half-year showed an increase of 15 members, making a total membership of 380. There are now 268 members on the city list, and 112 on the country list. During the period the union's oredit balance increased from XBl9 Ss. Id. to .£928 18s. Id.—a surplus of ,£lO9 15s. lOd. This surplus, however, is rather nominal than real, and allowing for payments yet to be made, amounts to <£61 4s. 2<l. The amount collected in subscriptions (.£234 95.) constituted a record. There was 110 call on tho mortality fund during the period. The amount to tho credit of the fund is now .£312 6s. 2d. The rules of the nnion are being revised, and a draft of tho proposed now rules will shortly bo circulated fcr consideration, by members.
