LONDON PERSONALS. London, June 19. Tho ox-Governor of New Zealand, Lord Islington, has joinwl tho Corsham Company of tho Wilts National Reserve. Mr. Georgo Powell, of Wellington, is in London'. llr. and Mrs. Dudley Innes, of Wellington, have gone with their family to Bournemouth for tho summer. Hiss Nellie Metcalfe, of Auckland, is at present in Loudon. llr. and Mrs. C. J. Barrinfjer, of Auckland, and Jliiss Eva Barriuger, are nt present in London, and later visit the ilidland Counties. Mr. and Jlrs. Abbott, of Wellington, who have been travelling on the Continent, have arrived in London. The Hon. Thomas Mackenzie was principal guest at a dinner given by the Atlantic Union in the Criterion Restaurant on Juino 12. Mi. L. N. Reeoo, of Christchurch, who is studying at St. Thomas's Hospital, gained the degree of Bachelor of Surgery last week. Mr. A. S. Thompson, of Panmuie, is now in Ireland, audi later goes to Scotland. Ho returns to England for the Royal Agricultural Show. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Price, of Masterton, are on a six months' holiday, and are spending most of their time in Kent. Lator they go to Paris. Mt. R. Gibson, of Petone, intends during the next twelve months, to visit France and Germany, and will spend tho winter in the Channel Islands. The Jl)6sos M. and B. Washbourne, of Christchurch, intend staying in London for a few weeks. They then go to Gloucester, Kent, and Edinburgh. . Dr. Margaret B. Cruickshank. of Wainrnte, arrived in London three months ago with her sister, who is a nuirse, after having spent a mouth on the Continent. Mr. andi Mts. James Stark, of Herbert, intend to visit Scotland, Ireland, and tho Continent, and to return to New Zealand via. America at the end of the year. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Siefert, of Palmerston North, intend to tour in England, Scotland, and Ireland, before visiting the Continent. They will probably return to Now Zealand through America. Sec.-Lieut. H. A. Davies, and Sec.-Lieut. J. L. Turner, of the Hoyal New Zeala-iul Artillery, were presented at the King s levee, held on June 12, by tho AdjutantGeneral to tho Forces. _ Miss Lilian Kimball, formerly of Christchurch, recently married an Englishman, Mr. Sweot. She and her husband have left for Western Australia, with a view to settling in that State. Mr. awl Mrs. M. S. Lame, of le Awamutu, leave this "week for th© Highlands of Scotland, then for a trip to the Continent, after which they return to London, and sail on September 20 for Now Zealand. , , Mr. L. M. Milnes Thomson, who obtained a wran<?lership with distinction in tho mathematics tripos at Cambridge, is a son of Dr. A. Milhes Thomson, who was in practice in Napier for several years. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Brown, of Rangitikei, intend visiting Birmingham, then Scotland, Ireland, and Wales during July and August. After that they intend to go to Norwav, returning via the Continent to New Zealand. Mrs. Frances Stevens, of Wellington, is accompanied by her grand-daughter, Miss Doris Stevens, and leaves London at tho end of Juno to visit relatives in Bristol, beforo going on to Ireland and the ConMr. Harry A. Epstein, of Invercargill, who has been for years an ardent supporter of Esperanto, wfis, on his arrival in London, some little time ago, offered the position, which he accepted, of Esperantist Consul for London. Mr. and Mrs. J. ItadcMo, of Timaru, and their daughter, are on a visit to England, which Mr. Badcliffe has not seen for 33 years. They sail again in September, after visiting in tho meantime Scotland and tho Continent. . Mr. and Mrs. Georgo Barren, of Christchurch, are revisiting Weston-super-Mare after an absence of nearly 39 years. They spent a considerable time in Italy, Switzerland, .France, Belgium, Germany, and Holland before ooming on to London. Mr. R. N. M'Culloch, of Ravensbourne, Dunedin, is in. London. He .will travel in Great Britain and the Continent, and will return to New Zealand via' the United States. ..... Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Maxwell, of Auckland, spent some time in Egypt and the Continent before coming to England. They are staying now with Major Bolton, Mrs. Maxwell's brother, at Windsor Castle, and will visit various places in England and Ireland beforo leaving for New Zealand. , Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Dunckley, Waikato, Morrinsville, have just returned from the Continent, where they visited Paris, Switzerland. Germany, and Belgium. They will probably be in London till tho end of June, and will then tour England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. In tho autumn they will leave for America, and return to New Zealand in February, 1914. Miss H. L. Birss, of Invercargill, who spent 6ome time in India and the United States bofore coming to England is in London, but shortly leaves for a trip to the Highlands, from whence she returns in July to represent the New Zealand teachers at the Education Conference in London on July 19. Alter that she leaves at the end of August for the Continent, returning home by South Africa.
