CITY FIRES.

OUTBREAK AT THORNDON. A. seven-roomed dwelling in Thtandon Quay was badly damaged by fire yesterday morning. Tho house, a two-story one, was owned by Mr. Geo. P. Campion, and occupied by Mr. Thos. Powell. Tho brigade received tho call at 11.39 a.m., and on proceeding to tho .scene found tho building enveloped in flames. Smart work on tho part of tho brigadesmen resulted in tho firo being soon got under control, however, but considerable damago was done. Tho contents were covered by a-policy in tho South British office to tho extent of .£l5O, and tho house was insured in the Standard office for .£2OO. The firo is supposed to have originated i» a cupboard under tho stairs.
