PROPOSED CHANGES. Tho Wellington City Council propose to make several changes in tho electric car service, and has announced its intention to apply for variations in the Order-in-Council under which the system is controlled. Tho counoil is asking for power to run coupled cars over all routes, and trailers over tho Thorndon to Newtown and Thorndon to Oriental Bay lines. Tho new oars now being built at Newtown aro specially designed to run coupled. Trailers will, of course, have no motors, but they will have efficient brakes, and communication cords. Visitors to Wellington irom the South Island have often wondered why trailers' havo not been in use hero. It is expected that they will prove a great convenience on tho more level lines of tho city during tho busy parts of tho day. Tho council is also seeking authority to duplicate tho lino In Upper Willis Street, and to extend the terminus at Newtown to the gates of tho park. Other proposals ore tho duplication of tho Brooklyn lino from Ato Street onwards, and the provision of six-trip return tickets, at the rate of Is. for two sections, three for Is. Gd., and four for 2s.
