WOMEN DRINKERS.

AND HOTEL BOTTLE BARK. Sir,—la it not time tile No-License deputation gave up asking for the moon in the shapo of such impossibilities its the "tare majority," whatever that may mean, and settled down to 6onie less drastic method of' reforming, the liquor traffic? Why do they not turn their attention to tho bottle stores that havo sprung up in or near nearly every hotel iu the city (luring the last few years? There was a time in Wellington, say ten years ago, when no woman with any claim to modesty would ba seen entering a hotel bar, but now it is a common sight to see women who might otherwise be mistaken for ladies going in and out of these bottle stores. Wo moderate drinking men are not pleased to see our womenfolk in such places. Is this extension of the public-house facilities for selling liquor another item in the wholesale disregard of the spirit of tho Licensing Act, which provides for one bar only on each licensed premises? It probably easily accounts for tho increased drink bill of the Dominion, notwithstanding the numerous No-Licenso areas. If the Prohibitionists would take up some scheme for curtailing tho traffic in this direction, many moderate drinkers would lend a hand.—l anv, etc., MODERATE DRINKER.
