RECONSTITUTION OF THE UNIVERSITY.
Sir,—The University of New Zealand lias recently issued a circular containing three schemes for its reconstitution. Schemo B proposes to popularise the university by extending the membership of the Courts of Convocation by including several clnsses of persons who have hitherto not-enjoyed the privilege of belonging to that body. This is a very commendable policy on .tho part of tlio Senate, but, in my opinion does not go far enough. I should like to suggest, through your columns, a number of persons who might with advantagu be included in tho Senate's list: Inspectors of schools, rabbit inspectors, inspectors of machinery, inspectors of nuisances, truant officers, suffragettes, Countilof the.Free Kindergarten, the Ancient Order of Druids, habitual criminals, the Salvation Army, the Savage Club, tip Y.M.C.A., tho Eugenics Society, trades unions, red feds., conscientious objectors and.passive registers, public vaccinators, fire brigades, tho Dandies, anti-militarists, tram guards, football teams, janitors and caretakers of colleges, secondary schools and primary schools (above grade?), members of school committees, Hansard stafF, Editors, for the time being, of "Truth" and tho "Maoriland Worker," captain and crew of the Energy, telegraph messengers, person or persons in charge of tho municipal fish market, regis'tercd barmaids, and such other persons as shall from time to timo become members.—l am, ctc., GRADUATE.
