BOILING TAR & EXPLOSION. MAN TERRIBLY INJURED, (By Telegraph.—.l'rees Association.! Auckland, July 25. William Mnssey was terribly injured yesterday by an explosion, followed by a fire in the Soltar Company's works in Beaumont Street. Ho wae conveyed to the hospital, and died this morning. Soltar is a new loading material. When, the explosion occurred, boiling tar overflowed, and two tanks caught fire. Jlas6ey was thrown on tho floor, and lay miconscious amidst the blazing mass. Another employee named Avery, who had a narrow escape, and two others made a fruitless attempt to rescue Massey. Tho I'iro Brigade was summoned; and got the fire under control. Massey was then dragged out, covered with black liquid, and terribly burned. Examination at the hospital showed evidence of a froctured skull, and there was no hope of his recovery from the first. Massey was a married man, aged 28 years. ADA BRADLEY'S DEATIT. Christchurch, July 25. Late last night Ada Bradley, a singlewoman, aged 23 years, residing in Linwood, who was admitted to the hospital suffering from injuries incurred in a collision with a taxi-cab, died in the institution. An inquest was opened to-day. Tho girl's another stated that deceased v;as riding in the middle of the tramlines, and witnfss was on her wrong sidn of tho road. , There was a lamp on each bicycle. Witness heard a taxi-cab coming bohind, and got off her bicycle fit the lamp-post to allow it to go past. The taxi-cab was coming on the tramlines, and seemed to be going fairly fast. Witness then heard a crash, ae if- the taxi-cab had run into something, and, when she went across, she found her daughter lying on the ground. Medical evidence was also given, and the inquest was adjourned till Tuesday.

BOY DROWNED AT JOINTLY. 1 ■ • . Auckland, July 25. Andrew Kerr, aged li, was drowned in tho river at Hundy. Ho iras playing on a spring-board, and lost his balance. He was unable to swim.
