The miners' strike at Charleston, West Virginia, has become active again. Watchmen employed by tho coal companies to protect the pit workings came into conflict with the strikers, and a pitched battle ensued. Four of tho minors 1 were shot dead. There is much' rioting and bloodshed throughout the strike area. The United Mine Workers of America are conducting the strike, which is one of the most bitter fights ever experienced. ■ Strike riots have also occurred at Lansing where the Miohigan Militia are keeping peace with difficulty. _ Armed miners aro terrorising the district.
