The proprietor of tho Crown Pictures, Lower Hutt (Mr. J. Babington), has given the proceeds of an entertainment toward tho motor fire engine fund. It is understood that about .£lO was realised. Last evening a farewell benefit was given to Mr. W. Smith, late manager of the Lyceum Theatre. Items were rendered by Messrs. Wiseman, E. Sim, Chamberlain, Borrows, Jt'Ewan, Lockyer, and Simpson, Miss Hetty Hargood (Mrs. Montgomery). Miss M. Allen. The programme was under the direction of Mr. E. Pointon.
