LUMP SUM IN LIEU OF INCOME. In the Supreme Court yesterday morning, the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) heard an originating summons to determine a fjufntion arising out of the will of the late Charles W. 13. Lumley. The plaintilt' in the action was Sarah Jane Lumley, widow of the deceased. The defendants were Herbert Ilart and others. Mr. D. M. I'incllay appeared for Mrs. Lumley, while Mr. P. 11. Putnam appeared lor'the defendants. Deceased by his will left to his widow the income arising from J he property in tlie estate, valuea at JC44S. After the death of the widow tho property was to be divided anions the five children. The question was whether the Court could grant a lump sum iu lieu of iucomo to
t lie widow, to enable her to start in somo form of business. After hearing counsel, his Honour made an order granting a luiiip sum of JilliO. DISCHARGE GRANTED. The Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) yesterday delivered reserved decision in a Blenheim bankruptcy matter, granting discharge to Victor Lionet Powell, denlist. The applicant had been adjudicated bankrupt on Jlay !) last. His discharge was granted conditionally on his making certain payments to his lather. Mr. C. B. Morison, K.C., appeared for the applicant.
