(From Our Special Correspondent.) « — At the Methodist Church, Lower Hutt, yesterday afternoon, the Rev. Yallance Cook (of London) conducted a serrico. There was a largo attendance. Ho spoke from the first epistle of St. .Tohn, Chaptor IV". verses 12 and IS, the subject being "Perfect Love." The preacher showed the possibility of men. and women reaching a state of Christian perfection in this life. Hiss B'lakely presided at tlie organ. The half-yearly election of officers of the Fcfcone Working Meh's Club last evening resulted as follows:—President, Mr. I!. S. Cunliffe; treasurer, Mr. J. A. Simpson; committee, Messrs. R. Jones and 1!. J. Smith. At the weekly mooting of the Hope of Petonc Lodge of Good Templars, No. 187, Bro. K. Parkin, C.T., presided. Sister Ijpadbrook, D.S.J.T., was a visitor to tho lodise, and was cordially welcomed. Upon the businr ; s of the lodges being transacted, a short recess was granted by the C.T.
