Questioned by Mr. G. W. Russell, M.P., regarding the disposal of the fees received by clerks of licensing committees, the Hon. A. L. Herdman made tho following statement on the subject:—"lt is correct that clerks.of courts who are clerks of licensing committees have been instructed to pay fees received by them from local bodies for performing these duties into the Public Account. The instructions have been issued by the authority of the Public Service Commissioner, in accordance with tho Public Service Regulations. The amounts will be taken into consideration by the Commissioner in fixing the salaries of the clerks under the classification. The matter is one within tho jurisdiction of the Public Service Commissioner."
